My favourite youtube channels for free exercise

Movement that supports your mind – without spending a penny

When you’re juggling work, parenting, and mental load, it can be hard to prioritise exercise — especially if you’re feeling low on energy or motivation.

But here’s the good news: you don’t need a gym membership or fancy equipment. Just a few minutes, your body, and a free YouTube video.

Below are some of my favourite free, accessible exercise channels — for when you need a lift, a stretch, or even just a gentle nudge back into movement.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga with Adriene

Flow - 30 Days of Yoga 2024 – YouTube
Gentle, friendly, and no-pressure — Adriene is a favourite for a reason. Her free series help you build consistency with short daily practices, whether you're a complete beginner or reconnecting with your mat. Bonus: her dog Benji often makes an appearance.

🌱 Cosmic Kids Yoga

Jack and the Beanstalk – YouTube
Ideal for keeping little ones moving — and giving you a break. These story-based yoga adventures are silly, imaginative, and surprisingly calming. Great for wet weekends, bedtime transitions, or joining in together.

💃🏾 Kukuwa African Dance

Kukuwa Fitness – YouTube
A burst of joy in video form! These dance workouts combine cardio, music, and African movement in a fun and empowering way. No choreography knowledge needed — just follow along and enjoy.

🎮 Just Dance Play-alongs

Example video – YouTube
Perfect for rainy days or afternoon slumps. Whether you're dancing solo or with the kids, these follow-along routines get your heart rate up without feeling like "exercise." (You can even do them in pyjamas. No judgement.)

🧘‍♂️ Targeted NHS Pilates

Pilates for Chronic Back Pain – YouTube
These short videos are great for gentle strength building or managing health issues like back pain. Created or recommended by NHS professionals, they’re safe, focused, and no-frills.

Why movement matters

Even 5–10 minutes of movement can make a difference to your energy, mood, and sleep. It helps calm the nervous system, regulate emotions, and reconnect you with your body — especially if you’re navigating stress, parenting, or trauma recovery.
